Music
In Music at Milton Keynes Academy, we want students to have a broad knowledge and understanding of diversity and culture within the arts; by offering a rich and varied curriculum we aim to give all learners the knowledge and cultural capital to succeed in life. Our Music curriculum covers repertoire from a large cross section of cultures, including Pop, African, Jazz, Classical and many more genres.
Music links with other subjects and utilises transferable skills that are used in everyday life. Students gain, confidence, communication, listening skills, patience, persistence and many more character traits which can be used in the future for employment.
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity, and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and to listen with distinction, and to the best of their ability.
