Year 11
Welcome to our dedicated Year 11 page. Our message to every Year 11 student is simple:
MAKE IT COUNT.
Make every lesson count.
Make every revision session count.
Make every piece of homework count.
Make every intervention count.
Make every day count.
We know that students who attend well, engage consistently and take responsibility for their learning are far more likely to achieve the outcomes they are capable of.
This year, our shared values matter more than ever.
RESPONSIBILITY - Own your outcomes.
Attend every day. Attend every lesson. Arrive on time. Complete your homework. Revise regularly. Ask for help when you need it. Nobody can do the learning for you.
RESPECT - Respect your opportunity.
Respect your teachers. Respect your classmates. Respect your learning environment. Every minute of learning matters, and your choices can either support or disrupt the progress of yourself and others.
RESILIENCE - Keep going when it gets difficult.
Some topics will be challenging. Some assessments will not go as planned. There will be setbacks. Do not allow one difficult lesson, one poor result or one mistake to define you. Listen to feedback. Learn from it. Try again. Get better.
ASPIRATION - Believe in what you can achieve.
Know your destination. Set ambitious goals. Work towards them every day. Your GCSE results will open doors — and the choices you make throughout Year 11 will help determine which doors are available to you.
CLOSE THE GAPS. BUILD THE KNOWLEDGE. RAISE THE ACHIEVEMENT.
Throughout Year 11, we will provide additional opportunities to support students to succeed.
PERIOD 6 & HOLIDAY INTERVENTION - Targeted intervention will provide additional teaching, practice and support to close gaps in knowledge. If you are invited, attend and engage. Make it count.
HOMEWORK & INDEPENDENT STUDY - Learning cannot stop when the school day ends. Students should regularly check Satchel One, complete homework and use the resources provided by their teachers to continue learning beyond the classroom. Make it count.
REVISION & RETRIEVAL - Revision should start now — not when the exams are approaching. Regularly retrieve previously learned knowledge. Identify what you do not yet know. Relearn it. Practise it. Make it count.
EXAM PRACTICE - Knowing the content is only part of success. Students must practise applying their knowledge, answering examination questions, developing exam technique and building confidence under timed conditions. Make it count.
There is one message we particularly want every Year 11 student and family to understand: EVERY LESSON MATTERS. MAKE IT COUNT
