Milton Keynes Academy delivers record results day following good Ofsted.

The good news keeps coming for Milton Keynes Academy!

Graded good in all areas during a full inspection in May, the academy has been able to meet the challenge Ofsted gave them and show their excellent work in achieving significantly improved student outcomes. The academy set a new record in the number of students achieving passes in all subjects, the number of higher grades attained and — most importantly — the number of students who met the criteria for their next steps in education and employment.

The outgoing Year 11 cohort have been real trailblazers for the academy over their time at the Leadenhall school. The fact they have delivered the best results in the school’s history is no surprise to staff.

Principal Gordon Farquhar said.

"I am delighted that the young people in our Year 11 have achieved the results they deserved. It has been my absolute pleasure to work with them for the last 4 years, so to see them get the end results they have is really satisfying. Most importantly, this year group has not just delivered on results, they have driven change across all parts of the academy. They are every bit as impressive in the way they have led student councils, have partaken in extracurricular activities and have driven their community. Whilst we will really miss them, it is a real pleasure to wish them well for the future.”

This set of results was particularly important following an Ofsted report which predicted that the magnificent work the school was doing would transfer to improved outcomes. Just three months after the report, that prediction has become a reality and shows why the staff, students and community are proud of their school.

As is always the case on such an important day, Year 11 students need to take centre stage and there was a real buzz around the academy as students opened record results. Students across the academy were really pleased with their results and were there in support and celebration of each other. Whilst it is hard to pick out individuals, there were many results of significant note.

Adam Klimaszewski achieved a perfect score in his maths exams where he did not drop a single mark. He is clearly on track to follow his dream of studying at Cambridge university.

“In maths, I have a passion for the subject, and I love problem-solving.  My maths teachers were inspirational and taught me to keep going and be confident, and I would get to the end of a problem.  In general, I had self-discipline and worked hard on subjects. In English, for example, I practiced my essay writing every day, focusing on changing the problem areas identified by my teacher."

Estelle Sanz Chambers recognised how much work needed to go into achieving outstanding grades and she did this with ten higher grades including multiple grade 9’s. Estelle was already reflective on her amazing performance simply saying.

“In the end the sacrifice was well worth it”.

Yuet Lam, who also achieved ten higher end grades, reflected the views of many of the cohort when asked about her thoughts.

“I am still a bit in shock to be honest, but I want people to know that our school is a place where real progress has been made. I have seen it change over my time here and they have helped me achieve everything I have. People should make their own mind up about how good my school is because I know how great it is, thank you!”

The academy believes these results are just the start of the next phase of their journey. As part of Creative Education Trust, The Milton Keynes Academy fully intends to continue to strengthen and provide the best possible opportunity and education for the young people it serves.

Jason Howard, Trust Director of Education, said:

“These extremely positive results reflects leadership, staff and the trust's ambition for all our pupils across our diverse community”

"The overriding feel about the academy is one of continued optimism and expectation. The academy is sad to see this year group move on but are confident there are more great things to come in the future.
