School Direct is one of the teacher training routes we offer at The Milton Keynes Academy Our School Direct programme is partnered with the Ofsted ‘Outstanding’.
University of Warwick, Centre for Teacher Education (placed 6th UK University in the Guardian University Guide 2022). The qualification gained on our School Direct programme is the same University of Warwick, Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) as that gained by students on the more traditional University-led teacher training programme.
The School Direct programme allows potential trainees to apply directly to The Milton Keynes Academyfor their teacher training. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in our school in advance of the course start date.
If you already have 2 years of classroom experience (such as Teaching Assistants or Cover Supervisors) you may wish to consider a post graduate teaching apprenticeship. Teaching apprentices do not pay fees to study and earn a salary whilst developing their teaching skills in the classroom. Apprentices split their time between school and University with at least 20% of their time being spent on study.
From 16 August, children under of the age of 18 will no longer have to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test & Trace as a close contact of a positive Covid-19 case. On their return to school in September, all students will be given the opportunity to take two Lateral Flow Tests on school site. It is clearly in the interests of the school and its community that as many students as possible take up this opportunity to be tested on their return to school. As the students will be taking the new Orient Gene LFD test, we need to ask all families to provide consent for the testing, which can be done via the link below.
