Student Leadership

At Milton Keynes Academy we believe that students should been given a variety of opportunities to develop and practise leadership skills to ensure they are ready for their life beyond school. Developing student leadership is key, not only does it improve core skills such as communication, organisational skills, and time management it also allows students to develop their character by inputting their thoughts to wider school priorities.

The school leadership team at Milton Keynes Academy reinforce the schools’ values which are Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Aspiration and Equality to create a climate of great learning, success, and opportunity. Our student leadership team takes great pride in being the voice of the student body and embraces the responsibility of confidently ensuring a positive change to the school environment.

Student Leadership Team:

  • To promote the MKA Values
  • To be the voice of the students’ body and to be able to articulate these ideas to all stakeholders
  • To support in the wider whole school events such as open evenings, parents’ evenings, and parent information evenings
  • To support with running House competitions and community outreach programmes.
  • To support with the running of the school and liaise with SLT members.

Benefits of being on the Student Leadership Team:

There are many benefits of being part of the Student Leadership Team, it provides a range of opportunities and helps you develop key skills such as communication and being confident in communicating with older and younger year groups. This opportunity allows you to gain organisational skills through planning and leading upcoming school events. Lastly, this is a great character-building opportunity which allows students to foster resilience and self-confidence, when pupils face challenges or setback, they learn to persevere and bounce back; this opportunity enables students to tackle new challenges with determination.
