Library Online Services

Reading Resources Whilst at Home

The National Virtual School Library is bought to you by Oak National Academy in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.

Every week a popular children’s author or illustrator will provide you with free books, exclusive videos and their three top recommended reads. https://library.thenational.academy/

‘Libraries nurture a love of reading that can enrich children’s literacy skills, academic achievements and mental wellbeing.’

Public Libraries Resources – We are very fortunate in Milton Keynes to have 9 Public libraries and a mobile library. Not all are open, but they are still offering online services, and some click and collect/pick and mix.

Remember it is free to join and follow this link for instructions to register and borrow resources. New – Under 16s can now join the library online! (with details of a guarantor on the form)

Join the library online via   https://miltonkeynes.spydus.co.uk/cgi-bin/spydus.exe/MSGTRN/WPAC/JOIN

Here are some of the services they are offering

E-Library  – this has lots of useful databases for learning such as Encyclopaedia Britannica, Times Digital Archive, PressReader (Newspapers from all over the world in multiple languages).  It also has links to the eBook and eAudio book provider (RBDigital).  This is mainly fiction for children, teens and adults though there is some nonfiction available. The easiest way to use this is to download the app to a phone or tablet. More details here https://www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/libraries/elibrary

Click and collect service – search for and reserve specific books via the library catalogue https://miltonkeynes.spydus.co.uk/cgi-bin/spydus.exe/MSGTRN/WPAC/HOME

Pick and Mix – students or guardians email library.enquiries@milton-keynes.gov.uk with preferences, topics, genres, ages etc. but a member of staff chooses books on their behalf
